Associate Director - Building Surveying (MRICS)

London | £80,000-£95,000 depending on experience | Performance-related bonus | Flexible working

TRC are exclusively representing an established commercial building surveying firm in their search for an experienced Associate Director to take a senior role within its Central London practice.

This opportunity would particularly suit an experienced surveyor currently working within a larger corporate consultancy who is looking for greater autonomy, more flexible working and the opportunity to make a visible impact within a growing business.

Alongside leading high-quality instructions, you will have the freedom to develop trusted client relationships, contribute ideas and help shape the future direction of the practice. You will be trusted to manage your work with independence while remaining part of a collaborative and supportive team.

The role would suit an experienced Associate or Associate Director who combines strong technical expertise with the confidence to lead clients, support colleagues and identify new commercial opportunities.

The role

You will lead a varied portfolio of commercial building surveying instructions across both professional and project work, including:

• Contract administration and project management

• Landlord and tenant dilapidations

• Technical due diligence

• Design and specification

• Building pathology and defect diagnosis

• Reinstatement cost assessments

• Planned maintenance and refurbishment projects

At Associate Director level, you will also:

• Manage and develop key client relationships

• Take ownership of projects from instruction through to completion

• Support the generation of new and repeat business

• Identify opportunities to broaden existing client accounts

• Contribute to the continued growth and development of the practice

• Provide guidance and technical support to less experienced surveyors

• Maintain high standards across project delivery, reporting and client service

• Represent the business confidently at meetings, industry events and within your professional network

About you

You will be:

• MRICS qualified

• An experienced commercial Building Surveyor with a private-practice or consultancy background

• Technically strong across both professional and project-led building surveying

• Comfortable managing complex instructions and advising senior clients

• Experienced in developing lasting client relationships

• Commercially aware, with an interest in business development and practice growth

• Confident working independently while contributing to a collaborative team

• An effective communicator with strong report-writing and presentation skills

• Previous experience mentoring colleagues, managing client accounts or contributing to fee generation would be highly advantageous.
